Who else wants a “Keep It Simple” Strategy to Increase Cash Flow in Government Contracting?

A surprising number of small federal contractors still think they have to wait for the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), or their Agency’s Contracting Officer (CO) to initiate contract closeout.

Did you know that you do not HAVE TO wait?

Cash flow is crucial. With my 12 Step Guide to Quick Closeout Requests you can disrupt the red tape rhythm of the government agencies you must interact with to get final payment. AND

With the ending of Government Fiscal Year (GFY) 2016 two weeks away, and the certainty of a Continuing Resolution for GFY 2017, NOW is an ideal time to begin streamlining your closeout process.

Trust me! You don't have to wait until your rates are “Final ”, Or Excess Funds need to be De-obligated, Or worse yet – Funds are Expiring!

In my 12 Step Guide you’ll learn to initiate the Quick Closeout process by:

  1. Confirming your T’s are crossed, and I’s are dotted to prepare your Quick Closeout Request.

  2. Creating references to justify your Quick Closeout Request.

  3. Completing the required documentation and submitting your Quick Closeout Request.

What’s the alternative to streamlining your process and initiating Quick Closeout?

You can wait until DCMA or the CO calls you - - - 3 to 5 years after the work has been completed. At best, it is disruptive to the personnel at your company and at the Government Program Office who are busy doing new work. At worst, the personnel who completed the work are no longer available.

How much time will it take to pull together and complete the necessary documentation in the future?

We are all human; our memories and filing systems are fickle. When you wait, it is possible that the closeout process will cost more than the final invoice is worth.

Plan now to spend your time, energy, and money tracking down the information required. Consider making this process standard at the end of each contract’s period of performance, or an annual activity during first quarter of each GFY when the Federal Contracting cycle is typically stalled, especially for new work. You will avoid a hit to your overhead budget, while keeping your team concentrating on current direct charge work.

Your proactive practice will ultimately enable you and your team to maintain focus on what you do best.
